SharePoint 2010 Hosting :: Working with Sharepoint Document Management

clock October 20, 2011 17:05 by author Administrator

Sharepoint Document Management is among the most well-respected and reputed of all document management systems. The proper and organized management of documents is essential to the success of any business. Sharepoint is one of the better systems designed to help companies expertly manage their documents.

Sharepoint gives organizations the tools to handle day-to-day operations with programs that they are already familiar with, for instance, Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Outlook. Sharepoint also supports every stage of the document life cycle.

ASPHostCentral.com, as one of the SharePoint 2010 Hosting Providers, proudly confirms that we do support both SharePoint Foundation 2010 and SharePoint 2010 Server Hosting.

During the document management planning process, companies tend to follow certain steps. They often times first determine document management roles. This will generally involve determining who in the organization will be involved in the document management process and in what role. Sharepoint can help individuals identify who these employees will be. This can be especially helpful for companies or executives who don’t have much experience in this regard.

Next, it will be necessary for organizations to figure out what documents will be needed. These will include forms used daily and those that will only be used sparingly. Again, companies will find that Sharepoint will walk them through this process.

The proper organization of documents is important to every company. When it is done correctly and in a way that is intuitive to those who will be using the documents, life becomes much easier for everyone involved. Using Sharepoint, companies will find that they are able to organize documents in a variety of ways including document libraries and records repositories, amongst others.

In addition to the aforementioned, companies will also find that they are able to organize documents based on content type (policies, metadata, workflow processes, etc.). This helps create much needed consistency when it comes to the management of a company’s documents, which is extremely important. Having a document management system in place which that makes accessing and working with documents easy, will help companies save both time and money. Workflow planning, content control and the development of information management policies are also made possible using Sharepoint.

Overall, Sharepoint is a very good document management system. The proper management of documents is crucial to the smooth running of an office or organization. Document sharing, collaborative authoring, archiving and keeping confidential documents protected are just a few of the document management capabilities Sharepoint offers users. Companies in need of a quality system to manage their documents should consider it. It will require that a company own certain hardware and software programs, which is something that will need to be taken into consideration before a company opts to use it as their document management system

ASPHostCentral.com :: Understanding "Domain Name in Redemption Period" and all its related RISKS!

clock October 10, 2011 16:31 by author Administrator

When a domain expires, domain owners are given 40-day grace period to renew their domains. However, if the domain is not renewed, it will then enter the Redemption Period. This period will last for 30 days. During the Redemption Period, the domain owners can still renew the domain, but they are required to pay the $100 Redemption Renewal Fee plus the original domain renewal fee. If the Redemption Period is over and the domain is still not renewed, the domain will be listed as "Pending Delete" and it will later be released for general public registration

However, some people might find the $100 Redemption Fee is very expensive. Hence, it is very common that the domain owners decide to wait until the domain is released for general public registration. This approach is in fact very risky due to the following reasons

The Possibility of Losing Your Domain
All domains are registered on a first come first serve basis. Therefore, there is no guarantee that you can re-register your domain name after it is released for public registration. Also, a lot of internet firms often trace those easy-to-memorize domain names for re-sale purposes. Therefore, it is not easy to re-register an already-expired domain name after it is released for public registration.

Page Rank Issue
All domain names have a value of PageRank(PR). Newly signed up domain names have a zero value of PR. Assuming the PR for your domain is originally at 4. Once your domain is expired and has been released for public registration, your domain will now have a PR of 0 and you would need to put a lot of effort to re-gain the previous ranking.

ASPHostCentral.com : What Type of Hosting Do You Need?

clock September 28, 2011 17:50 by author Administrator

There are many web hosting options available nowadays: free web hosting, shared hosting, dedicated server, and the list goes on. All these options serve the same purpose, which is hosting your content so that it can be accessed and viewed by people on the Internet. The major difference is how each is structured as well as the benefits they offer.

Let's have a closer look at each of them.

Free Web Hosting

What can be better than a free web hosting plan? This is a great option for someone who wants to create a homepage or small website to share with friends and family. While free web hosting has received criticism for its lack of features, security and customer support, there are a few reliable free web hosting providers that you can trust. However, keep in mind that free web hosting is more geared for giving you a taste of having and maintaining a small, personal website. If you want to establish a powerful web presence with an online business, you will need to consider a paid hosting service that offers more control, security and reliability. In other words, we do not recommend free web hosting to those who maintains a business, e-commerce related site. Apart from this, usually a free host provider will usually add banners, advertisements automatically on your site and this can make your site looks unprofessional.

Shared Hosting

As the name implies, shared hosting is an environment where you are sharing space on a web server with other users. As clients are sharing the cost of the server, this is the most affordable and popular solution for personal users and small businesses as companies to set up blog, e-commerce and other advanced applications. However, when hosting on a shared server, you are exposed to all the activities of your neighbors. If someone makes a huge scripting error, the entire server can suffer. If someone experiences a sudden burst in traffic, your site might run slower. If the server goes down, so does your website and ultimately, your business.

When selecting a shared hosting provider, you need to ask several important questions. Some questions are whether the server is overloaded, how many clients in a server, and what sort of server specifications that the server is running. You may also ask whether your site is on an exclusive application pool and if it is, it will certainly reduce the possible downtime on your site (which is caused by the other site on the server). One of the excellent shared hosting providers is ASPHostCentral.com. We do not and never ever overload our server. All the sites on our server are assigned its own application pool. We always monitor our server performance and all the sites activities on our server and this is to ensure that all the sites on the server are not causing issues to the entire server.

Dedicated Hosting

When your business takes off and requires more than the typical sharing server resources, it's time to move up to the dedicated server. Now you're in the big leagues with an entire server dedicated to your hosting needs. However, without any experience, succeeding with this hosting option is nearly impossible - those who require a dedicated server but don't know a thing about server administration can get by with managed hosting. In this scenario, the hosting service provider handles all the management tasks which frees you up to focus on other areas of the business. Keep in mind that a managed service requires is generally more costly.

What is the Best Hosting For You?

The best advice we can give about hosting is to know what you're getting into. Free services are geared for personal sites, shared hosting is suited for small businesses and a dedicated server is designed for larger hosting needs, yet is far more expensive. By knowing what your site requires, it will be much easier to determine which is the best solution
